RFPUSA Webinar Series
Several weeks ago, Remziya Suleyman stood in front of a Baptist congregation in Nashville, Tennessee, and proclaimed that the promise of America required her to not only fight for the protection of her rights but for the rights of those who deeply disagree with her. A Muslim woman who grew up as a Kurdish refugee (moving to Tennessee at age 5), Remziya has had to face every side of Islamophobia. The next Religions for Peace USA webinar will feature her stories of success and challenge in the fight to organize against Islamophobia.
On July 25th at 3:30 ET, Religions for Peace USA and the American Center for Outreach have come together to offer a webinar featuring Remziya (the ACO Director of Policy and Administration). “I grew up hearing that this is the land of the free,” Remziya noted in Nashville. Her work with ACO as well as with the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) she lobbied, organized, and mobilized the Tennessee Islamic community against the nation’s largest Anti-Muslim legislation – which would have effectively jailed any practicing Muslim up to 20 years.
Register for the up-coming webinar here. We look forward to seeing you on July 25th at 3:30 ET!
